How Energy Codes are Getting Us Closer to Net Zero Energy Buildings

NOTE DATE CHANGE: WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 15TH

Buildings consume almost 50% of the energy in the United States – what can we do about that?  First off, let’s not build any more inefficient buildings.  Building energy codes are arguably the single most important policy option to reduce the energy consumption in new buildings.  From 2006 to 2012 alone, new buildings are 30% more efficient because of energy code advancement. In this presentation Shaunna Mozingo will present an introduction to U.S. energy codes, market and regulatory needs to advance energy efficiency, and what that means to you and your home.

Shaunna Mozingo is an Energy Code Consultant and Plans Analyst for Colorado Code Consulting and the Immediate Past President of the International Code Council Colorado Chapter.  Shaunna has been an inspector and building plans analyst for the past 12 years.  She has been very involved in the code development and adoption process at the local, state and national levels.  Shaunna has taught energy codes for the ICC, Department of Energy, State of Colorado, and hundreds of local municipalities.
