MAY WISE MEETING

5/8 Carbon Accounting and Climate Action Planning

Please join WISE on Tuesday, May 8 at 6:00pm for a talk by Alison Culpen on Carbon Accounting and Climate Action Planning.

Local governments and organizations are increasingly embracing the concept of sustainability. They are defining it to suit their needs, tapping into the many potential benefits, and using a variety of tools to quantify and track sustainability progress. One of these tools is a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory, which measures activity in terms of GHG emissions within a local government or organization and can be very useful to assess current conditions, establish goals, guide policies and programs, and monitor and evaluate progress. This talk will give a broad overview of GHG emissions inventories and dive into some detail around methodology, benefits, and applications.
As McKinstry's Sustainability Program Manager for the Rocky Mountain Region, Alison is responsible for providing clients with sustainability services including greenhouse gas emissions inventories, climate action and sustainability planning, and outreach and education. Prior to McKinstry, Alison worked at UC Denver's Center for Sustainable Infrastructure Systems as a Sustainability Outreach Coordinator, and at ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability. Alison has worked in the industry since 2004, providing public sector clients with sustainability assistance throughout the planning and implementation process.
